Tantō or short sword, is one of the traditionally made Japanese swords that were worn by the samurai class of feudal Japan. The Tanto is a single- or double-edged dagger with a length between 15–30 cm. It was designed primarily as a stabbing weapon, but the sharp edge made it ideal for slashing as well.

The Muromachi period would oversee a depressingly warlike, rebellious, and brutal period of history which saw incessant rivalries between warlords and unchecked bandits plaguing the countryside. In spite of the political disorder, the Muromachi period witnessed great cultural growth, particularly under the influence of Zen Buddhism. The uniquely Japanese arts of the tea ceremony, flower arranging was developed.

Hand forged Samuari blades are registered in the Agency for Cultural Affairs as artwork and The Board of Education properties protection Committee. Therefore each sword has a registration card issued. Which is included in the COA
